Krishi Vigyan Kendra organises Field Day on Wheat Crop

Jammu, Apr 24: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J)organised the field day on wheat crop here today at Seri village of Reasi district in J&K which was attended by a number of farmers of the village. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Director Extension, Prof.SK Gupta of SKUAST-J. KVK has laid Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on wheat crop in the area.
The programme was initiated by Sr.Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal with the warm welcome of the farmers. He briefed the importance of field day on wheat crop in the village and its impact on the adjoining villages. He highlighted the high yielding varieties of wheat crop for the area and added that the farmers should adopt modern technologies in their fields so that they can enhance their crops production and productivity. He emphasized on Integrated Nutrient Management and Integrated Weed Management in wheat crop. He discussed the remedial measures of different diseases in wheat crop. He recommended certain disease resistant varieties for the area.He elaborated the control measures of wheat diseases like loose smut and yellow rust of wheat. Dr.Lalit Upadhyay discussed on the climate resilient agriculture and stressed on the timely weed management in wheat crop so as to get good results.He also further narrated the control measures of rodents and termite in the wheat crop. Dr.Arvinder Kumar spoke on nutrients management in wheat crop and stressed on timely management of diseases in wheat crop.
He also guided farmers on soil health management for more farm returns. On field results of wheat crop were also demonstrated to the farmers and the farmers were satisfied after observing the results.
In this programme farmers asked various quarries regarding the scientific wheat cultivation which were answered by the scientists in a satisfactorily way.
