| PSC notification attracts hundreds of aspirants | | | Early Times Report Srinagar: Public Service Commission invitation for the Combined Competitive Examination attracted hundreds of youth who queued up to gets the forms on the first day on Monday. Reports reaching PBI said that serpentine queues were witnessed outside the Public Service Commission office here at Polo ground here where hundreds of youth irrespective of sex lined up to get the forms for the Combined Competitive Exam-2009. PSC invited applications for K Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination-2009 (CCE) for direct recruitment to the posts in the pay scale of Rs.7500-12000. According to PBI, there are 398 vacancies notified by the Commission for direct recruitment, out of which 210 have been notified for Junior Scale of state Administrative Service, 84 for state Police (Gazetted) Services and 104 for Accounts (Gazetted) Services. G N Var, who heads a local coaching centre, said that many people prefer the competitive exams instead of Medicine or Engineering streams. "Only children of bureaucrats would prefer the KAS or other competitive exams up to 1994 and now there has been a total change in the scenario," he added. Meanwhile, many people regretted the non-availability of the forms in general post office here. Even if the PSC has notified that the forms will be available with the post office, many aspirants however had to return empty handed as there were no forms available with the post office. "There was no other option other than to wait in a long queue for there were no forms available with the post office," said Shabir Ahmad, who was waiting in a long queue here at PSC office.
