Inter Public School Basketball tournament held

JAMMU, Apr 26: The air is abuzz with excitement as Pinegrove School, Dharampur is hosting the 11th All India Major Jagpal Memorial Junior Inter Public School Basketball Tournament for Boys and Girls 2023 after a span of three years in the imposing Wg. Cdr. S. S. Gyani Memorial Sports Centre. Mr. Gaurav Mahajan (HAS) Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kasauli, Dist. Solan was the Chief Guest for the grand Opening Ceremony on 24th April, 2023. 12 elite teams from prestigious schools from across the country are participating in a series of power-packed Basketball matches. These include APS, Dagshai; BCS, Shimla; Daly College Indore; Mayo College, Ajmer; Mayo College Girls' School, Ajmer; The Shri Ram School, Delhi; Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh; The Lawrence School, Sanawar; The Punjab Public School, Nabha; Welham Boys' School, Dehradun; Welham Girls' School, Dehradun and the host school, Pinegrove School, Solan.
The resplendent array of participating teams formed an exuberant parade which was followed by the oath-taking ceremony conducted by Rajeshwari Mittal, the Sports Prefect of Pinegrove School, Dharampur. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and declared the Tournament 'Open'. The opening match was played between Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh and the host school, Pinegrove School, Solan. The cheers from the ecstatic audience added to the overall pulsating excitement of the match. Team PGS won 18/9. In the second match, Welham Girls' School, Dehradun emerged victorious against The Shri Ram School, Delhi 30/16 while the concluding match saw Mayo College Girls' School, Ajmer as victors against The Lawrence School, Sanawar 26/20. The 12 energized teams will continue to participate in a series of power-packed matches over a span of 4 exciting days to reveal the overall champion.
