SSAG, MORT&H, organize Road Safety Advocacy Programmes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 30: Socio Service Art Group (SSAG), New Delhi in association with Ministry of Roads, Transport & Highways (MORT&H), Govt. of India, is organizing Road Safety Advocacy Programme with the students & youth in different higher secondary schools of District Jammu from 24th April, 2023 till 12th May, 2023 with a two day’s activity at each school on working days. The programmes are being organized in connection with raising awareness on the Road Safety measures among the students, and to take their help to spread the message among their nears & dears as messengers of the campaign. The programme has been devised judiciously with the aim to reduce road accidents, as majority of deaths take place on roads due to over speeding, helmetless driving, without the use of seat belts and the use of intoxicants etc. during driving. The programme of two days duration at each school is being organized in different educational institutions in Jammu District by SSAG, New Delhi & MORT&H, GOI in an innovative fashion by applying different Visual and Performing art mediums, as these mediums provide the participating students a platform to freely express their thoughts in a fun- filled atmosphere under the guidance of experts engaged in the Road Safety Advocacy Programme by the organizers. Officials from RTO Office Jammu, and local Traffic Police Officers of the area, Traffic Department, Jammu interacted with the youth and delivered lectures on traffic rules and shared information with the students related to traffic rules and regulations. Anil K. Razdan, Jang S. Verman Rekha Sharma and others, the experts in the field of visual and performing arts are conducting visual and performing art aspects of the workshops. On 24th and 25th April, 2023 the SSAG conducted Road Safety Advocacy Programmes with the students of Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Rehari, followed by the programmes at GGHSS, Akhnoor and GHSS, Sohal for next two days each. The students are participating in different activities with great enthusiasm and have resolved to obey traffic rules to save their and others’ lives, and also took oath to share the responsibility of making their friends and relatives aware about the road safety measures. According to a communication, Deputy Commissioner Office, Chief Education Office, SSP Traffic Office, Jammu, Principals of concerned schools provided a lot of support and cooperation to make it possible to conduct Road Safety Advocacy programmes for the benefit of the students and to make younger generation an integral part of campaign on Road Safety Advocacy in Jammu (J&K). During the next few days the students of following schools would be benefitted by the Road Safety Advocacy programme: GGHS, Kandoli, Nagrota; HSS, Chhanni Himmat, Jammu; HSS, Jourian; GGSS, Khour and HSS, Mandal.
