TLSC hosts awareness programme on "Women & Children in need of Care & Protection"

KISHTWAR, May 1: Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Kishtwar today organised an awareness program on the provisions for "Women & Children in Need of Care & Protection" here in the Conference hall of mini secretariat, District Head Quarter. The awareness event was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar, Mahmud Anwar Alnasir and attended by Teachers, Aasha workers, Anganwadi workers and PLVS.
Advocate Anjali Gulati Advocate Pooja Shan, Medical officer Dr. Sharda Rani, the speakers- highlighted the various aspects of the topic both socio legal as well as medical. The resource persons gave in-depth information about the rights available and remedial measures to be taken in case of any report to that effect.
Member Juvenile Justice Board, Meenakshi also apraised the participants about the role of Juvenile Justice board and Child Welfare Committees. She also emphasized the role of women in approaching such fora for redressal of any such grievances.
Mahmud Anwar Alnasir, who was the Chief Guest of the function, emphasized upon the participants to carry forward this information as part of a sustained information campaign. "All the frontline workers have to carry on this message of awareness, especially with regard to 'care & protection of the community at the grassroots" , he said and added that there was a dire need to ensure basic human rights of vulnerable and marginal groups, especially females & children in remote areas.
He also emphasized on the controlled use of mobile phones and use of social media by children and Juveniles. "The parents/guardians are cautioned to be aware of what their kids are watching and exposed to on the web. It's time that parents monitor what content is being exposed to the kids and Juveniles and how it's impacting their psyche. Such exposure could lead to other social vices" he maintained.
The function concluded with a formal vote of thanks. Proceedings were conducted by Adv. Naveed Khurshid, Dy Chief LADC.
