Traders Federation observe May Day

JAMMU, May 1: Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market on Monday observed May Day in J&K's biggest grain Mandi. Hon'ble Dy. Mayor Baldev Singh Billawaria was present as Chief Guest while Amit Gupta, Corporator of ward no. 19 was guest of honour at the function. Deepak Gupta, President Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market welcomed both the guests by presenting them a bouquet of flowers, after which the Deputy Mayor started the program by honoring the newly elected team of the Labour Union. Dy. Mayor honored Ashwani Kumar, President Lobour Union and his team members by presenting Mata Ki Chunri.
On this occasion, Deepak Gupta, while highlighting some issues of Labourers, said that there are about five thousand laborers in the mandi who do not have proper arrangement of toilets for bathing and washing. He said that these laborers have to spend nights in the open in summer and winter. If JDA allows them to build rooms on the first floor of shops, then these laborers can get a place to spend nights. Apart from this, he also raised the demand of making labour cards of the labourers before the Deputy Mayor.
On this occasion, the Deputy Mayor promised the labourers that very soon labour cards would be made for them by setting up a special camp in Mandi. As far as construction of toilets and rooms is concerned, the Deputy Mayor assured to discuss it with JDA officials.
After this, Deputy Mayor Baldev Singh, Corporator Amit Gupta and President Traders Federation Deepak Gupta inaugurated the Bhandara for the laborers.
Others who were present of this occasion included Mohan Lal, Nazir Ahmed, Vicky Sharma, Ravi Sharma, Gulzar Ahmed, Parveen Sharma, Harbans Lal, Sandeep Sharma, Bittu Sharma, Rinku Sharma, Rattan Lal, Bachan Lal, Sahil Sharma and Mohinder Pal was prominent.
