Sunkar inspects USBRL Project in J&K

JAMMU, May 2: R.N. Sunkar, Member Infrastructure, Railway Board carried out an intensive & detailed inspection of the Katra -Banihal section of the USBRL Project on 29/04/2023 along with the senior officers of NR & KRCL. He inspected and reviewed the ongoing important works of the country's "First cable-stayed bridge" Anji Bridge, for which all 96 cables were fully installed on 26th April 2023 in a record time period of 11 months. Reasi station Yard, Tunnel T-1, Tunnel T-13 &14, and Bridge No.60 along with other works from Katra onwards up to Sawalakote.
After the inspection of the Anji bridge, the Member Infrastructure Railway Board also inspected the Reasi station yard between Tunnel-3 and Tunnel-5. Reasi yard is located on another mega Bridge no. 39, which is a continuous composite steel girder of span 490m and the Pier height varies from 35.08 m to 105 m and tallest Pier P5 is 105m high from foundation level. It was informed that the bridge has been completed and preparatory works for laying the Ballastless track are in progress.
R.N. Sunkar inspected the section from Bakkal to Dugga by Motor Trolley. It was informed that the Ballastless Track (BLT) has been laid in the section and the work of installation of Electro-Mechanical devices is in progress. He also inspected Tunnel T-13, Bridge 60, and Tunnel T-14. Tunnel T-139(9.3 km long ) connects the Dugga and Sawalakote stations of the USBRL Project. Bridge- 60 is a 250m long bridge located in between Tunnel T-13 and T-14 accommodating platforms of Sawalakote station. 6.3 km long Tunnel T-14 is located in the Sawalakote-Sangaldan section. 3209 m long Tunnel T-1 located in Katra-Reasi Section, its 309 m portion is passing through the Main Boundary Thrust zone. Only 132m of tunnel excavation is now balanced and the work is progressing slowly but steadily in the face of very difficult & challenging geology.
Every day, Indian Railway is edging closer to connecting Kashmir Valley to the rest of the Railway network.
