Ownership rights of land to West Pak refugees will heal their wounds: Raman Suri
Cong, NC, PDP did injustice since 1947
5/2/2023 10:36:54 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 2: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today hailed the decision of government to grant ownership rights of land to West Pakistani refugees who had migrated to Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. The announcement made by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in this regard is a welcome step and will reverse the injustice done to these families since 1947 by Congress, NC and PDP regimes who did not bother to treat the refugees as honourable citizens of India.
Raman Suri said that the abrogation of Article 370 has opened many new vistas of development for thousands of families belonging to different castes and regions. Many got voting rights and now many more will get ownership rights of land allotted to them way back in 1947.
These people have suffered a lot of pain and agony and, this decision of the Union Government and subsequent implementation by the LG administration is indeed a welcome step.
The BJP leader said, now these West Pakistani refugees can have government jobs, cast their votes, and even own land in Jammu and Kashmir which was their right but was snatched by those in power like Congress, NC, or PDP. He said, land measuring approximately 50 thousand kanals will now be allotted to West Pakistani refugees who until now were living in their own country in miserable conditions and without any rights to vote, seek jobs or have land in their names.
Raman Suri said, the BJP government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sensitive towards such issues and this decision establishes how PM is concerned about the plight of refugees who had arrived from Pakistan in 1947 and ever since then, were living under miserable conditions. He accused various previous governments like those of Congress, PDP, or NC of ill-treating these people and depriving them of their legitimate rights of living like an honourable citizen and enjoying facilities and rights which other citizens have been granted.
Raman Suri added that the BJP government, post abrogation of Article 370, has also granted voting rights to Valmiki Samaj members, who were brought in from Punjab but were never granted citizenship rights here. They too are now enjoying equal rights like others. The BJP government, he added, is one with a difference and is doing justice with all those who had been neglected, ignored, or condemned by previous governments of Congress, NC, or PDP.
The assurance by LG that special emphasis will be laid to help the youth belonging to West Pakistan who migrated to India in 1947, to establish themselves is also a welcome step. He asked the youth to take maximum benefits of the Union Government as well as LG administration schemes and contribute to nation building.
