JAMMU, May 2: Apni Party Provincial Secretary, Dr Rohit Gupta has criticized authorities for the pace of development in Aitham area.
To discuss developmental issues, Dr Rohit Gupta accompanied by Provincial Secretary Apni Trade Union, Daljit Singh organized a meeting with the residents of Aitham.
During the discussion, people especially women highlighted various issues complaining about under development and lack of basic amenities.
Addressing the meeting, he said that the roads are in the worst condition with no black topping, poor clean drinking water, and development seemed to be a distant dream. He said that the Aitham village needs policy for women empowerment to uplift the living standard of the women in the villages.
“The women need financial upliftment by providing them skilled training and loan facility from the authorities to start their livelihood as a skilled worker in stitching, and other trades,” he said.
He said that the social welfare department’s involvement in the issue is important to check the number of women willing to get skilled training and accordingly assist them to improve their financial situation.
“To over come the employment issues, the authorities should frame a policy for the employment of the youth and especially women from this area,” he demanded.
He said that “Since the village comes under Jammu East constituency, the authorities must provide benifits of Smart City to the residents in all areas and villages of this constituency. “Aitham appears to has been neglected with regard to development and the politicians who represented it for years hardly cared about the development or providing of basic facilities to the locals,” he said.
He said that the people in Aitham feel that they were exploited for vote bank politics but they were not provided development
