| CPI for full-fledged status to PGF Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 13- Stressing the need for increased number of programs to meet the demands of heterogeneous society of Jammu province, Communist Party of India (CPI) has asked the Central Government to give Doordarshan status to Programme Generating Facility (PGF) Jammu so that the interests of every section of society could get highlighted. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, CPI leader, Rakesh Pardesi said that short transmission period of PGF Jammu was by no way enough for highlighting the culture of diverse society of Jammu Province. He said that in the present circumstances it was not possible for the station to come up to the expectations of all the sections of society in the province. "The problem can only be solved if PGF is given a full status of Doordarshan," he added. Expressing surprise over the short transmission period of PGF, he said that it is impossible for the station to do justice with the distinct cultures of Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch and Jammu. However, he expressed satisfaction over the enhancement of the reach of the station and urged upon the concerned authorities for increasing the daily transmission period to accommodate all sections of the society.
