| DCF directs ICICI Lombard Insurance to make payment within one month | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan13- Allowing the complaint filed by Vijay Kumar, the Divisional Consumer Forum Jammu today directed the ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited to make payment of Rs 14297 within a period of one month with Rs 1000 as litigation expenses.
One Vijay Kumar of Udhampur had filed a complaint in the Consumer Forum submitting therein that J&K Government Finance Department had tied-up with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited to provide government employees hassle free access to modern health care facilities which normally are behind the reach of most of the employees. As per the scheme the Insurance cover for hospitalization to the tune of Rs 5 lakhs was provided to the insured. The complainant had been issued policy for his wife by ICICI, effective from October 6, 2005 to October 5, 2006. The scheme itself provided expenses on maternity. The wife of the complainant was admitted in a private nursing home where she delivered a baby on March 2, 2006. The complainant had to bear the expenses of Rs 14297 as per the bill issued by the nursing home. On approaching the ICICI for reimbursement of the expenses the Insurance Company out rightly rejected to entertain the claim forcing the complainant to approach Consumer Forum.
SL Pandita President Consumers Forum Jammu, after hearing both the sides, observed that the stand taken by the ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited is not tenable and is accordingly rejected and directed it to make payment to the complainant to tune of Rs 14297 within a period of one month besides Rs.1, 000 as litigation charges.
