Azad backs Article 370 removal
5/7/2023 10:42:13 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 7: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chief and former Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that scrapping of Article 370 stopped stone pelting and terror attacks. However, Azad added that the recent terror attacks are a cause for concern. Azad said that the Central government has succeeded in controlling terrorism and stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the Centre also did some things which were not in the interest of the people of the state, such as Article 370.
Azad said that while removing of Article 370 was not in the favour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, it has certainly ended stone pelting in the state. He further said that the incidents that happened in Poonch and Rajouri are a matter of concern. The former Chief Minister of the state said that terrorism is not in anyone’s interest and only the common people have to bear the losses. Azad said that in the present political uncertainty, his party is the only hope of the people as he has never done politics on a religious or regional basis and believe that people deserve equal opportunities with dignity.
“We never discriminated between the regions and treated them equally in all manner,” said Azad at a party joining function here.
Secretary of Apni Party Kulwant Singh from Marh constituency, and social activist Suraj Prakash Sharma joined DPAP in Azad’s presence.
The new entrants said that they joined the party since Azad holds a strong political understanding and he can only take the Union Territory out of the present situation
Azad said, “Poor governance and lack of accountability in the system is affecting the economy of people which has led to the decline in job opportunities. Where shall our youth go now? It is our duty to provide them enough employment opportunities. but unfortunately nothing such is done,” he said.
Appreciating the people of Jammu for building rich secular values, Azad said that they should be cautious against all those forces who have no contribution to its development but play petty politics for their personal gains.”
