GDC Samba celebrates World Red Cross Day

SAMBA, May 8: NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Samba celebrated World Red Cross Day on 8th May under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Dr Twinkle Suri, Principal of the Institution was the Chief Guest on the occasion, which was, also, attended by other faculty members and doctors from the Govt. Hospital Samba. Around 70 NSS volunteers actively participated in the event.
The proceedings of the event began ceremoniously with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. Followed by which a formal welcome address was placed on record by NSS Programme Officer. In her address the Head of the Institution enlightened the students on the pivotal role of Red Cross Society in creating a global network of assistance for the launch of rescue and rehabilitation operations in the wake of natural and man- made calamities. She also emphasized upon the altruistic ventures of Red Cross Society that ultimately lead to generating a humanitarian vision among the youth. The student NSS volunteers from the college also shared their opinions on the occasion.
To commemorate the essence of the day, a medical camp was also organized in the college by the eminent doctors of Samba District. Many teachers and students were examined and counseled by the doctors in order to generate health related awareness among them. Dr Geeta Lakhotra, NSS Programme Officer of the College concluded the event with a formal vote of thanks to all the participants and guests.
