World Red Cross Day celebrated

KATRA, May 8: World Red Cross Day was celebrated here today to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of “HENRY DUNANT” founder of Red Cross movement.
The district level function was organized at Trikuta Public Higher Secondary school Katra, in which Deputy Commissioner Babila Rakwal, who is also the chairperson of district Red Cross Society, was the chief guest on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion the DDC Reasi appealed to the people of the district to contribute towards district red cross funds for the help of poor and needy persons. The DDC said the Red Cross is engaged worldwide in providing relief to the poor, needy and those who fall prey to Natural Calamities, accident victims and poor patients.
A symposium on the topic “Everything We Do Comes from the Heart” was also held. This year's theme focuses on the foregrounding of the volunteers of the Red Cross and their contribution to society. Seven students of Government /Private Schools and GDC Katra participated in the symposium. Cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
Donors who donated towards the Red Cross Society were also felicitated by the chairperson District Red Cross Society. Prizes were also distributed among the students.
DDC Councilor, ACR Reasi, SDM Katra, Tehsildar Karta, CEO Reasi, Heads of government/private institutions, and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
