DC Kathua reviews implementation of ICDS, Social Welfare Department schemes

KATHUA, May 11: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today reviewed the functioning and implementation of ICDS and Social Welfare Department schemes here at a meeting held in the Conference Hall of the DC office Complex.
Among the others, Programme Officer ICDS, Basharat Hussain; District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Rahim, CDPOs and TWSOs attended the meeting.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on widening the coverage of beneficiaries under the scope of schemes offered under ICDS & Social Welfare Departments.
At the Outset, the PO, ICDS gave a detailed account of the status of several Central and UT schemes being implemented in the district. He informed the meeting that 1641 Anganwadi Centres are functional in the district and geotagging of 99.15% of the Centres have been completed.
It was also given out in the meeting that 2807 beneficiaries were provided benefits under Laadli Beti Scheme.
Besides, PO ICDS also gave details about the activities undertaken under various schemes like Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkups, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Poshan Abhiyan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), BBBP and Ladli Beti.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the field functionaries of ICDS to ensure saturation of all schemes in their respective areas. He also called for maintaining inter-department coordination to achieve 100% coverage of schemes of Health, ICDS and Education sectors.
The DC also took a detailed review of the progress achieved by the Social Welfare Department in the implementation of different schemes viz NSAP, ISSS, NFBS, SMAS, PMAGY, ADIP, BBBP, SCA to SCP, BJRCY etc.
The DSWO apprised that under Mission Shakti 116 camps were organized in different parts of the district wherein team members reached out to the women folks and sensitized them about the women centric welfare schemes and support mechanism in place to empower them.
It was informed that 140 women have availed the assistance from One-Stop Centre Calling for more effective measures, the Deputy Commissioner asked the DSWO to extend benefits of the schemes to all eligible persons so that the desired objectives are achieved at the grassroot level.
