REASI, May 12: District Development Commissioner, Babila Rakwal chaired a meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee on the Central Sector Scheme on Farmers Producers Organizations which aims to promote 10000 FPOs in the country covering each block in the district in a phased manner.
In the meeting, the committee approved allocation of three blocks viz; Block Katra, Jij Bagli and Thuroo to the Implementing Agency under the scheme–NAFED.
Further the DDC, took a review of the progress under the FPOs already sanctioned to seven existing blocks.
DDC advised the line departments and the field officers for the promotion of the new innovations which shall help farmers increase their income levels through high value crops, value additions, floriculture, aromatic plants, etc.
She advised department of Agriculture and Horticulture to motivate farmers to join the FPO movement through their field level officers, so that the membership base of the FPOs increases to the suitable levels. |
