Rotary Club Jammu, Shankus Medicity join hands to raise cancer awareness

JAMMU, May 18: Rotary Club Jammu and Shankus Medicity Collaborate to Organize Cancer Awareness Camp
In a collaborative effort, Rotary Club Jammu and Shankus Medicity organized a camp on women's health and cancer awareness at Govt College of Women, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. The camp was attended by approximately 150 female students and staff of the college.
Dr. Paras Khanna, a renowned Onco Surgeon from Shankus Medicity and the only MCh Onco Surgeon in Jammu, addressed the attendees and provided insights into cervical cancer and breast cancer. Through a detailed presentation, he highlighted the pros and cons of both types of cancers and guided the students and staff on preventive measures.
Dr. Paras also discussed the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures of these diseases. His informative presentation was well received by the audience.
During the opening session, Dr. Prof Pawan Bali, the nodal officer of the college, welcomed Dr. Paras Khanna, President of RC Jammu Rtn Sunil Kumar Sawhney, and the team of Rotarians. They introduced the doctor and Rotary Club to the students and staff.
Dr. Meeru ABROL, the college principal, commended the efforts of RC Jammu and Shankus Medicity for organizing such a knowledgeable program in the institute. Rtn Dr. Gaurav Vaid also spoke about cervical and breast cancer during the event.
In his closing remarks, Rtn Sunil Kumar Sawhney, the president of the club, urged the students not to hesitate in discussing any symptoms they or their relatives might experience. He encouraged them to openly communicate with their mothers, friends, and other female family members, as early detection plays a crucial role in combating such cancers.
The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Anju Bala, and the camp was attended by Rtn Deepak Babu and Rtn Prem Shanker. Dhara Koul and Simran Jeet skillfully anchored the stage, ensuring a smooth flow of the event.
