Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 19: The Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, led by President Sushil Sudan, held a Press Conference today, to shed light on the prevailing situation in the Health Department. The Federation urged the government to address the following demands promptly for the benefit of both the public and employees:
Vacant Post of Director Health Services: The post of Director Health Services has been vacant since April 1, 2023, following the retirement of Dr. Saleem Ur Rehman. The absence of a Director has resulted in a backlog of pending work in both the Health Services and Family Welfare wings. Employees and the public are facing difficulties in getting their legitimate work done. The Federation requests the government to keep the transfer portal open until the position of Director Health Services is filled. Numerous files of health employees and the public await the approval of the Director for crucial treatments like kidney and liver transplants.
Release of FMPHW Salary: The salary of Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers (FMPHW) has been pending for the past six months. Despite repeated appeals to the government, the issue of pending salary remains unresolved. Many FMPHWs are now undergoing long-term treatment and depend on divine providence for their livelihood.
Disbursement of Salaries under 2211 Head: The salaries of FMPHW and other staff working under the 2211 head are funded by the state treasury across the country, with the budgetary grant sanctioned later by the Central Government. However, this rule has not been implemented in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Union Territory (JKUT).
The Federation appeals to His Excellency Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Mehta to resolve the issues faced by permanent employees as soon as possible. The Press Conference was attended by Madan Lal Sharma, Sanjay Choudhary, S. Kulwant Singh, and S. Tejinder Singh.
