Early Times Report
BARAMULLA, May 19: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish, chaired a meeting at the DC Office Complex to assess the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme in the district.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the daily monitoring of the implementation of the JJM scheme by the District Administration Baramulla. The aim is to achieve 100% saturation in all the works undertaken under the scheme.
The DC reviewed the physical and financial progress of the works executed under the JJM. Currently, 209 works are in execution mode, accounting for 70% progress. Portable water connections have been provided to 101,748 households out of the target of 145,675.
To ensure the smooth execution of JJM works, Dr Sehrish directed all officers to work together and coordinate effectively. The goal is to connect all households, schools, anganwadi centers, health centers, and panchayat ghars with tap water connections under the scheme.
During the meeting, various issues and bottlenecks were discussed, and the DC stressed the importance of minimizing inconvenience to the public during the works. The executing agencies were urged to redouble their efforts to achieve cent percent saturation and the desired targets within the specified timeframe.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Planning Department, Jal Shakti, R&B Departments, Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Chief Medical Officer, and representatives from the Jal Shakti and R&B Department.
