| JU keeps limited entry points | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan16- The front gate of the Jammu University campus always remain open for students, visitors and invitees attending variety of programs at Zorwar Singh auditorium but the two other rear gates one in front of the auditorium and another near department of distance education always remain closed at least for students due to security reasons. Though the University has entrusted security of the campus to its own security staff yet it has no concrete reason behind shutting down the gates of the University for the students and regular visitors. The rear gate in front of the department of distance education is opened only when ‘babus' occupying hot seats wish to have tea and send their office boy or security guard to fetch some tea from a nearby teas tall across the road on Tawi bridge. Another gate near Zorawar Singh auditorium is thrown open occasionally during VVIP movement and most of the times entry via this gate is banned as it remains out of bound for students. This arrangement has irked many regular visitors and students as they stand in front of the gates waving at the security guards to open the locks. Most of the times security guards do not entertain the request of a common visitor and oblige only in case if anyone related to University staff in advance inform them about their movement. Visitors coming via Gujjar Nagar, Tawi bridge, if wish to visit the University campus, have no other option but to take the longer route as the security staff has been instructed to lock the gates in the absence of enough manpower to man the University gates. Security guards on guard duty often save their skin by shifting the blame on to the University authorities claiming that they have been told to lock the gates and they cannot go against the orders of the authorities.
