| 11 years term for three accused of murder | | | Early Times Report Reasi, Jan 16- Principal Sessions Judge Reasi AK Koul today awarded life-imprisonment to three accused, facing trial in the murder of one Pawan Kumar and seriously injuring one Yash Pal, after 11 years of trial and investigation. The accused granted life term are Ashok Kumar son of Govind Ram, Tilak Raj son of Om Prakash and Sohan Singh son of Karnal Singh, all residents of Kundran Reasi. After hearing Public Prosecutor MM Sharma appearing for the state and Adv Narinder Kumar appearing for the accused and the accused persons present in the Court in custody, Principal Sessions Judge observed that the accused are within the age group of 20 to 25 years, and there is nothing on record to show that they have on any earlier occasion indulged in any crime, the accused does not fall under rarest of rare case and accordingly awarded life-imprisonment u/s 302 with fine of Rs 10,000 each. According to the prosecution case on October 19, 1997 a report was lodged with the Police station Reasi that the deceased Pawan Kumar had gone to attend the marriage ceremony and from there he along with injured Yash Pal went to the market to purchase some goods and on their way back the accused assaulted both of them with sharp edged weapon with the intention to kill them. The deceased who received serious injuries died on way to Jammu. A case u/s 302/307/34 RPC r/w section 4/24 Arms Act was registered in the Police station Reasi and after completion of the investigation police had presented challan in the Court of law JNF.
