Merit always undermined in Congress to accommodate blue eyed on top posts: Azad
5/21/2023 10:27:55 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 21: Stating that time has come when all political parties shall rise above the region and religion and shun the divisive politics, Democratic Progressive Azad Party Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday said that his party has no space for nepotism and favoritism like in Congress where merit was undermined to accommodate blue eyed people on top positions. He said in DPAP only people can grow out of hard work and loyalty and everyone will be offered a desired position in the party. “Only merit will prevail,” he said.
He asked the cadre to intensify the membership drive and ensure that no one is left behind in the party’s caravan of peace and development. Meeting various delegations from block Chilli, Gundoh and Jakyas during the second leg of his two-day visit to District Doda, Azad took first-hand review of the ongoing membership drive. Azad also said that it was unfortunate that the G20 summit was not held in Jammu though it is a welcome step to provide an opportunity to Kashmir to host this international event.
“While meeting the workers, it enables you to understand the ground situation and I am happy to receive direct feedback from the foot soldiers of our party,” he said. He directed the party workers to intensify the membership drive and ensure no one is left behind in the Caravan of peace and development launched by DPAP. He said he never believed in such cheap tactics to foment trouble among the communities, however, he believes strongly in secular values, which is the only hope and option to keep the country and regions intact.
He said instead his politics is purely based on development and it was his tenure as Chief Minister when he built hospitals, colleges and roads across the length and breadth of Doda district.
He said alongside Kashmir, the Government of India should have also arranged a meeting of G20 members in Jammu as well to boost its economy and tourism.
Meanwhile, DPAP leader Saddam Nabi Azad said that he feels blessed to have joined active politics and getting an opportunity to work for the people of his home state, especially the home town. “Bhaderwah is my hometown and I will be the first voice for its people and will always defend the rights of this district,” he said.
He said, “my priority is to work and find opportunities for our educated youth who even after securing higher degrees find no employment opportunities,” he said.
Among others present on the occasion were Vice Chairman G.M. Saroori, General Secretary Abdul Majeed Wani, Working Committee Member M. Aslam Goni, Provincial Vice President and Working Committee Member Naresh Gupta, Senior Leader DPAP Saddam Nabi Azad, Iqbal Kohli DDC, Secretary Farooq Shikari, Zonal President P.R.Manhas, District President Asif Gattu and others.
