Jammu, May 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Speed Ball Team achieved notable success in the 13th National Speed Ball Championship 2023 held in Rajasthan from May 16th to May 18th. The team, led by Sunny Nanda, secured the 2nd runner-up position in the tournament. Rajasthan clinched the 1st place, while Delhi claimed third. The Jammu and Kashmir team performed exceptionally well, winning 10 gold, 9 silver, and 12 bronze medals. During the felicitation function, Sunny Nanda, along with the team, received appreciation from founder patron Mrs. Pooja Malhotra. She also congratulated the team on their outstanding performance and expressed her commitment to supporting the promotion of speed ball in future championships. Several players from the Jammu and Kashmir team won gold medals in their respective categories, including Shivam Chadan (RHS), Lavya Mahajan (JSS), Paras Singh (MPS), Aarsh Jasrotia (DAV), Maiyank Mahajan (MPS), Megha Pathania (DPS), Rehaan (JSS), Tamana Antahal (APS Udhampur), Dhruv (JSS), Sunny Kumar (C.S. Club), Goutam (C.S. Club), Renu Devi (Crescent Sports Club), Sushant Thakur (DHSS), and Mantaya Sharma (HPS). During an interview with local media, Sunny Nanda revealed that four players from the gold medalists have been selected to participate in the 2nd Open International Tournament, which will take place in Preveza, Greece, in the third week of June 2023.
