| 7 day remand for 8 accused in RTO raid case | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 16- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu BL Bhat today granted seven days police remand of eight accused, for further investigation, who were arrested by Crime Branch during a surprise raid in RTO office here on January 10. The accused namely Ashok Kumar Sachdeva, Daya Kumar, S Jagjit Singh, Deepak Sharma, Avtar Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Jugal Kishore and Diwakar Singh were today produced before the Court in custody by the Crime Branch Jammu for remand. According to the Crime Branch, some employees of RTO Office Jammu in connivance with agents have been running a racket for issuance of fake driving licenses and registration certificates and have also misappropriated fee and other dues recoverable as a fee etc. The Court observed that while the investigation is in progress and the allegation of commission of non-bailable offences of serious nature is subject of probe, there is lot of scope for further investigation. The Court ordered further seven days remand of the accused to police custody with the direction that accused be produced before the Court on January 22, 2009. All the accused have been reported to be medically fit, however, accused Ashok Kumar Sachdeva complained that he is diabetic and is not getting proper treatment, upon this Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu directed Inspector Rajinder Sharma, escorting the accused, to get accused Ashok Kumar examined by a specialist and ensure that proper and adequate treatment is provided to him.
