| Forces to get active on operations | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan16- The security forces, including the Army, has been directed to launch anti- insurgency operations with precision only after the receipt of exact information.
The forces were informed that whenever counter insurgency operations were launched without proper planning and exact intelligence inputs it would result either in harassment of civilians or even killing of innocent people. These directions were passed during the recent meeting of the Unified Headquarters held in Jammu
The sources said that the security agencies were also directed to handle cases of excesses or human rights violations in a transparent manner so that action against the guilty was taken promptly and the nature action taken against the guilty be made known to the people.
The Army authorities assured the Government that troops were already under strict instructions that they should try to avoid indulging in human rights violations. They informed the Government that during the last one year there were no major case of human rights violations and even for minor incident of excesses action was initiated against the officials involved in human rights violation.
During the meeting emphasis was laid on promoting coordination between the security and the intelligence agencies. Senior functionaries of various intelligence agencies were asked to initiate measures so that all the agencies worked in perfect coordination.
