Multispecialty Fever symposium organized at ASC college

JAMMU, May 26: A symposium on "Fever - A Multispecialty Approach" was successfully organized at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Paediatrics and Pharmacology under the aegis of PEDI-PHARMA. Esteemed subject experts presented detailed aspects of fever within their respective specialties.
The symposium was inaugurated by Dr. K.S. Mehta, Professor & Head of Surgery, and Dr. Rajesh K Gupta, Professor & Head of Orthopaedics and MEU Coordinator. Dr. Geetika Gupta, Professor & Head of Physiology, discussed the physiological factors involved in fever and shed light on the applied physiological aspects of the condition.
Dr. Sushil Sharma, Assistant Professor of Paediatrics & Neonatology, provided an overview of fever in children, addressing common problems encountered in daily life and discussing the etiopathogenesis of fever. Dr. Sanjay Bhat, Professor of Medicine, explained the causes of fever and elaborated on treatment modalities for adults.
Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal and Professor of Pharmacology, delivered a presentation on the topic "Fever - Evil or Boon." He highlighted the advantages of increased body temperature in restricting the growth of temperature-sensitive bacteria. Dr. Malhotra also discussed the pharmacological effects of different anti-pyretic medicines.
Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Professor & Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Organizing Secretary of the symposium, provided insights into the clinical approach to fever in practical life. He demonstrated non-pharmacological practices and scientifically approved methods, including sponging and other general measures for managing fever.
During the event, Dr. K.S. Mehta commended the organizers for conducting a symposium on such an important and common clinical manifestation. Dr. Rajesh Gupta expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the organizing team and assured attendees of future academic events.
The symposium concluded with the distribution of mementos to the esteemed speakers by the chief guest.
