AYUSH hosts Yogotsava on international Yoga day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 26: Under the guidance of Dr. Mohan Singh, Director of Ayush J&K, and the supervision of Dr. Vandana Dogra, District Ayush Officer Jammu, a Yogotsava program was organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at the University of Jammu. This program is part of the countdown events leading up to the 9th International Day of Yoga, initiated by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. The Yogotsava program included Yoga workshops, practice of the Common Yoga Protocol, and community-level Yoga sessions. More than 450 participants from various departments of the University of Jammu and the Directorate of Ayush J&K attended the event, demonstrating their commitment to preparing for the upcoming International Day of Yoga. Notable attendees included Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director of Sports and Physical Education Department at the University of Jammu, Dr. Seema Rometra, Director of Gandhian Studies, Dr. Suresh Sharma, Deputy Director of Ayush, Dr. Vandana Dogra, District Ayush Officer Jammu and Medical Superintendent of Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu, and Dr. Bharat Bhusan, CMO of Jammu University, among other dignitaries. Dr. Suresh Sharma emphasized the importance of practicing Yoga principles and techniques to maintain health and happiness, particularly in the face of increasing risks posed by unhealthy lifestyles and non-communicable diseases. He also stressed the significance of promoting all aspects of Ashtanga Yoga for improved health outcomes. The Yogotsava program, organized by the Directorate of Ayush J&K in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, serves as a prelude to the International Day of Yoga 2023. It aims to raise awareness about the benefits of Yoga and encourage the practice of the Common Yoga Protocol. Dr. Vandana Dogra delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to all participants and urging them to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines and promote it among their friends and families. It is worth noting that the Directorate of Ayush J&K has launched a campaign to promote Yoga in Jammu and Kashmir, conducting sessions in villages, schools, and community platforms. The enthusiastic participation from people of all backgrounds demonstrates their eagerness for Yoga, and these sessions will continue until the final event of the 9th International Day of Yoga. |
