Kishtwar police, army seize Chinese grenade from HM Associate

KISHTWAR, May 26: In a significant development, Kishtwar Police, along with 17 RR and CRPF 52 bn teams, apprehended a highly active associate of the (HM) outfit from Cherji area in Kishtwar district.
According to reliable sources, District Police Kishtwar received intelligence inputs about the involvement of Mohd Yousaf Chouhan, son of Mohd Abdullah Chouhan, a resident of Chhar Cherji, in terror-related activities. Subsequently, a case was registered under FIR No. 117/2023 U/S 13/18/39 UAPA, 4/5 Exp. Substance Act at P/S Kishtwar.
Following the information, SSP Kishtwar Sh. Khalil Poswal-JKPS deployed police teams along with the Army and CRPF to apprehend the accused. During the operation, based on the disclosure made by the arrested individual, a Chinese grenade was recovered from the Cherji area. In order to apprehend other active terrorists in the district and gather further leads, a major search operation has been initiated in Cherji, Chicha, and Padyarna areas.
SSP Kishtwar, Mr. Poswal-JKPS, cautioned the youth against getting involved in the nefarious activities of terrorist organizations that can ruin their future. He urged the public to promptly inform the police about any suspicious movements or activities of terrorists, enabling immediate counteraction.
