AMT students, staff engage in Talk Periods campaign for Menstrual Hygiene

JAMMU, May 27: AMT Nursing School at Jammu Government Medical College hosted an awareness program on Menstrual Hygiene as part of the Talk Periods campaign.
The campaign, organized in collaboration with the District Red Cross Society and NGO SUPPORT (A Global Volunteers Society), saw a significant turnout of nursing students and staff.
Led by Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal of Govt Medical College, the Awareness Campaign by NGO SUPPORT featured Mamta Rajput, Secretary of IRCS District Red Cross Society, Kunwar Rani Ritu Singh, Dr. Navneet Kour (Founder Chairperson of NGO SUPPORT), and Kritika Khanna.
The campaign aims to reach out to government and cooperative schools, rural and border areas, as well as urban slums, to promote the 'Safe Active Periods' initiative. Through engaging with young girls and women, the campaign focuses on spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene.
During her address, Dr. Shashi Sudan Sharma emphasized the importance of promptly addressing signs of heavy bleeding, irregular periods, and infections. She highlighted that women can continue with their regular activities during this time, as menstruation is a normal physiological process.
