Early Times Report
SAMBA/JAMMU, May 27: Humanity Public School, located in Bassi Kalan, Bari-Brahmana, has demonstrated commendable social responsibility by raising a substantial fund of Rs. 2,40,135/- (Two Lakh Forty Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Five) for HelpAge India, an organization dedicated to addressing the concerns of elderly individuals and supporting geriatric initiatives.
Established in 1978, HelpAge India is on a mission to advocate for the welfare and care of disadvantaged senior citizens, striving to improve their overall quality of life. The organization runs various age care programs to cater to the unique needs of elders, aiming to empower them to lead active, dignified, and healthier lives.
In a gesture of support, Gaurav Charak, Principal of Humanity Public School, along with Anku Charak (Vice-Principal), Akash Deep Raina (Senior Incharge), Keshav Raj Sharma (Incharge Hr. Sec. Wing), Namrta Sharma (Incharge Senior Wing), and Vandana Sharma (Incharge Primary Wing), presented a cheque of Rs. 2,40,135/- to Neeru Khajuria (Senior Executive, HelpAge India).
Expressing deep concern, Principal Gaurav Charak highlighted the growing neglect of the elderly by the younger generation. He emphasized the importance of collectively assisting disadvantaged elderly individuals, as they cannot afford to wait for tomorrow. It is crucial to instill in students a sense of respect and responsibility towards senior citizens.
The students, along with teachers, mobilized their resources and collected the substantial amount to aid the elderly. Neeru Sharma Khajuria (Senior Executive, HelpAge India) praised the efforts made by the school students and acknowledged it as the largest contribution by students and staff of HPS towards supporting the needs of elderly individuals. She further added that the school has been raising funds for HelpAge India's noble cause for the past seven years. The management of HelpAge India expressed gratitude towards the students, their parents, teachers, and the school administration for their remarkable efforts.
Humanity Public School's initiative exemplifies the significance of fostering a compassionate society and recognizing the value of caring for senior citizens who deserve love, respect, and support.
