Tara Chand, Altaf oversee rescue, relief measures at Thathri

JAMMU JANUARY 17- The Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand on behest of Chief Minister flew to Doda to personally monitor rescue and relief measures at the mischief site-11 km short of Gandoh on Kahra-Thathri road in Doda district where a minibus bearing registration number JK02-T 9503 met with an accident.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Forest Minister, Mian Altaf Ahmad, MLA Mr. G. M. Saroori and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Sudhanshu Pandy.
Expressing grief over the tragedy in which precious human lives have been lost and several sustained injuries, Mr. Tara Chand ordered airlifting of critically injured to the Jammu Medical College Hospital. The authorities on the direction of Deputy Chief Minister airlifted five seriously injured persons to the Jammu hospital while others have been referred to government health centre Thathri for urgent medicare.
The Deputy Chief Minister on behalf of Chief Minister, announced a relief of Rs. 25ooo in favour of next to kin of deceased and Rs. 5000 to each injured. The injured were provided the cash assistance on the spot.
Tara Chand directed the health and medical education authorities and district administration to provide free medicare to the injured and required assistance to the bereaved families.
Expressing concern over the road accidents in which precious human lives were lost time and again and many becoming disabled, Mr. Tara Chand underlined the importance of reviewing the transport policy. He stressed on replacing the old outlived and unfit vehicles by the new and fit ones.
Deputy Chief Minister instructed District Development Commissioner Doda to visit the families of those who lost their lives in the accident to express condolences on behalf of the Chief Minister. He also instructed him to take action for improvement of Thathri Hospital road as early as possible.
Deputy Chief Minister, Forest Minister, MLA Mr. Saroor and Divisional Commissioner also visited Thathri Government Health Centre and inspected the treatment being given to the injured. They later visited Jammu Medical College Hospital and enquired about the conditions of injured under treatment in the hospital. They also interacted with injured and prayed for their early recovery.
Meanwhile, Minister for Finance, Mr. A. R. Rather, Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Minister for PHE, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Tourism, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Health, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma and Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. S. S. Slathia also expressed grief over the road accident and expressed their sympathies with the bereaved. They also prayed for early recovery of the injured
