GDC Gool hosts spectacular multilingual mushaira, showcasing local and student poetic talents

JAMMU, May 28: Government Degree College Gool, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, organized a Multilingual Mushaira on May 27, 2023. The event took place in the Multipurpose Hall of the college and was held under the patronship of Dr. Karan Singh, the esteemed Principal of the college. The chief guest for the Mushaira was the renowned poet and singer, Masroof Gulabgarhi.
The Mushaira showcased the talent of local poets who captivated the audience with their beautiful compositions. Among the poets were Masroof Gulabgarhi, Prof. Shah-e-Jahan Ahmed Ganai (HOD English), Masoom-ul-Haq Masoom, Saqi Mushtaq, and Tanveer Ahmed Bhat. Additionally, Rifleman Kuldeep Singh, a Kargil War hero, graced the occasion as a special invitee.
The event also provided a platform for student-poets, including Khushboo Mirza and Sadam Hussain, who impressed the audience with their own composed couplets. Students from all semesters enthusiastically participated in the program.
The Mushaira commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Mohd Ashraf from the Department of Urdu, followed by a Naat recitation by Saddam Hussain. The event was graced by esteemed faculty members including Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. Mohd Younus Saleem, Prof. Gopal Singh (HOD Dogri), Prof. Jitendra Lal (HOD Education), and Dr. Irfan Rashid. Non-teaching staff members Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, Mohd Younis, Mohd Sadiq, and Muzaffar Ahmad were also present.
The proceedings of the program were conducted by Dr. Zafar Hayat, the HOD of Arabic. The event received coverage from Zahid Bashir, the correspondent for Kashmir Uzma. The Principal of the college, Dr. Karan Singh, delivered the concluding remarks, and Prof. Mohd Younus Saleem presented the vote of thanks.
The Multilingual Mushaira proved to be a successful and memorable event, showcasing the rich literary talents of both the local poets and the students.
