| Harshdev flays teachers’ selection list of Udhampur | | JKNPP to hold dharna in Secretariat on Jan 20; gherao CM, Council of Ministers | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18- Strongly flaying the highly biased, unjust, discriminatory and differential treatment meted out to Jammu youth in the matter of employment, Harshdev Singh MLA and leader Panthers’ Legislature party has regretted that the present coalition has indicated its intensions of perpetuating the age- old discrimination against Jammu region, that is evident from the latest select list of teachers issued for Udhampur district. Describing the grave injustice against Udhampur unemployment youth as intolerable, Singh in a handout issued to the press here today said that the “Panthers Party legislators would hold dharna in the Secretariat on January 20 and gherao the Chief Minister and his council of Ministers’. The JKNPP leader said that as against 336 posts advertised for selection, the select list contained only 290 candidates thus wrongly depriving 46 eligible candidates of their rights of gainful employment. On the contrary, he said, the number of posts advertised for Kulgam district was 227 while the actual selection list contained 287 names thus selecting 60 candidates in excess. ‘The posts of district Udhampur have been diverted to Kulgam district to confer benefits upon the Kahmiris which is a gross violation of all canons of equity and fair play and breach of all previous records of treachery, bias and injustice’, he alleged. Expressing his grave concern over the large scale vacancies existing in various government departments, he said 12000 vacancies, besides 4000 promotional avenues at the level of teachers, masters, headmaster and lectures, are pending selection in the education department. Failure of the government to fill up these vacancies had not only deprived the eligible unemployed youth of employment but had also adversely affected the functioning of the government, he added.
