| BMS demands revision of minimum wages for workers | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 18: The state president of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh ( BMS) Vijay Chandel has appealed o the chief minister, Omar Abdullah and also to Labour Minister S S Slathia to revise the minimum wages of Industrial workers both for skilled, semi skilled and unskilled. He said since 2005 no revision of wages has been done, beside abolished the contract labour. Addressing the workers in a meeting held here today, Chander said the employers are exploiting the workers by taking 12 hours duty without any weekly rest and labour officials are not discharging there duties sincerely and also for strict implementation of 90% local workers rule in industry. In the meeting it was further demanded that ESI Dispensary be opened at Samba, Katra as state govt and poor workers are being deprived from this social security schemes. In the meeting Harbans Choudhary, Sachin Bali, Ashok Choudhary, Som Dass, Shamsher Chand, Nanak Chand, Kishore Kumar and Rash Paul Singh were present.
