| Pandey, Rajendra review ID arrangements | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 18: In connection with the forthcoming Republic Day function at M A Stadium, Jammu, arrangements in respect of security, transport, traffic and parking of vehicles in particular were discussed at a high level meeting of officers of police and other concerned departments here late this evening in the Police Control Room. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey chaired the meeting. Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar was also present on the occasion. It was revealed at the meeting that 120 buses will be pressed into service for bringing the student contingents from various city and peripheral educational institutions to the venue for march past and physical displays. Mr. Pandey asked the SSP traffic to identify the spots where vehicles including those of VIPs, student participants and others would be parked on the Republic Day. While ensuring fool-proof security and smooth flow of traffic, he said that there should be minimum of inconvenience to the public. Mr. Pandey called upon all the departments involved in celebrations to work in unison for making the event a great success. IGP Jammu, Mr. K. Rajendra while referring to the recent arrest of the 1995 Republic Day blast accused from Kishtwar said that there would be no compromise on security. He sought co-operation from the public and stressed on close co-ordination between police/security forces and the participating departments. Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, SSP Jammu, Mr. Manohar Singh, SSP Security, Mr. Johny William, Joint Director Information, Jammu, Mr. Shyam Bijyal and other senior officers of Police, Youth Services and Sports, Revenue, Transport and Traffic also participated.
