College organizes yoga session for students in collaboration with Indian Army

JAMMU, June 5: Under the G20 Presidency of India and AKAM, the Department of Physical Education, NSS, and NCC units of GDC Banihal, in collaboration with 12-RR Banihal of the Indian Army, organized a yoga session for the college students on June 05, 2023. The event was supervised by Principal Dr. Shalini Sharma and Mr. Deepak Kumar (PTI). Faculty members and approximately 50 students, including 40 girls, actively participated in the session. During the session, two trainers from the Indian Army guided the students through various yoga asanas such as Bhujangasana, Shirsasana, Vakrasana, Trikonasana, Uttanasana, Tadasana, Dhanurasana, Balasana, Salabhasana, Ustrasana, Navasana, Setu Bandhasana, as well as meditation practices and breathing exercises like Bhastrika, Kapalbhati, Anuloma Viloma, and Bramari.
The trainers highlighted the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of these practices and encouraged the students to incorporate them into their daily lives. They also emphasized the importance of sharing these practices with their families and society. Principal Dr. Shalini Sharma emphasized that yoga is beneficial for the mind and soul and should be integrated into our daily routines.. Deepak Kumar provided a brief explanation about Ashtanga Yoga, the benefits of asanas and pranayamas, and the usefulness of meditation in our daily lives.
