JAMMU, January 18– Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood control, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din has called for collective participation of people and Administration at grass roots to bring about a positive change in the development scenario of the state. He stressed accountability at all levels in the administration adding that performance of officers and executing agencies were closely monitored. The Minister was addressing the officers and Engineers at Baramulla. He also addressed a public meeting at Uri and enjoined upon the officers to perform their duty with honesty and commitment to show best results. He said that present government would meet all the challenges with full determination. He said people have pinned high hopes on the present dispensation and onus lies on the officers to come upto their expectation adding that laxity in discharging of duties would not be tolerated. The Minister said that every effort would be made to provide all the basic amenities of life to people at their doorsteps adding that government would be sincere in implementing reach programme that have direct bearing on the people. He said that it will be his endeavour to visit every part of the state to inspect the developmental works assess the problems of the people and invite their suggestions to ensure better utilization of resources. The Minister said that strengthening of basic infrastructure is imperative for the development of the people and added that rebuilding of the infrastructure will be given top priority. The Minister was accorded a rousing reception enroute from Gantmulla to Uri. The Minister also paid his obeisance at the Ziarat of Baba Gujur Sahib at Peerniya and prayed for peace and progress of the state. He also assured construction of bridge over river Jehlum near Peerniya connecting Ijara, Pehlipora and other villages of Uri tehsil. The Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, SSP Baramulla and other senior district officers were also present on the occasion.
