SJVN celebrates World Environment Day

SHIMLA, June 5: SJVN, a dedicated supporter of environmental conservation, celebrated World Environment Day at its Corporate Headquarters in Shimla. The event witnessed the administration of an oath of Environment Conservation to all employees by Smt. Geeta Kapur, Director (Personnel), SJVN, in the presence of V. Sankranarayanan, Executive Director (Environment). The theme for World Environment Day 2023, "Solutions to Plastic Pollution," was highlighted during the event.
In her address, Smt. Geeta Kapur emphasized SJVN's ongoing efforts to nurture nature and protect the environment. She stressed the importance of individual and collective contributions in safeguarding and promoting the environment for a sustainable future. Smt. Kapur also acknowledged SJVN's initiatives such as Satluj Aradhana, Plantation drives, and energy conservation measures, which have raised awareness and instilled environmental sensitivity among the masses.
As part of the celebrations, SJVN organized various competitions among employees, including "Paudha Paalan Poshan Pratiyogita" (Plantation and Nourishment Contest), photography contests, milk pouches collection, and best out of waste competitions. Painting and essay writing competitions were also conducted in GHS Navbahar and GSS Khalini. Smt. Geeta Kapur awarded prizes to the winners of these competitions.
SJVN extended the celebration of World Environment Day to its offices and projects across India, aiming to raise awareness and encourage action for the protection of the environment.
The event at the Corporate Headquarters in Shimla was attended by senior officers of SJVN.
