Mining Deptt seizes 6 vehicles involved in illegal mining

KATHUA, June 5: Geology & Mining Department Kathua today seized six vehicles including one excavator involved in illegal mining.
The vehicles and excavator were seized during raids conducted by a team of Geology and Mining led by DMO , Rajinder Singh Rana at Nagri, Ravi River, Taraf Tajwal, Bhagtali and main bazar Kathua.
The quantity of raw mineral lifted by the vehicles was also measured by the officials of the mining department and accordingly seizure memos were issued to the violators as per the extant rules.
The excavator bearing No-JK08G-2567 was seized for excavating Nallah sand and vehicles bearing Nos-PB58F-8405, PB-NE4331, JK20A1765, CF6091 and JK08-8691 for illegal transportation of crushed aggregate.
As informed by DMO Kathua, One vehicle has been handed over to Police Post Nagri and other were handed over to Incharge Police post Bhagtali and penalty will be realized from them through Joint Director Office Jammu.
DMO informed that a total of 03 excavators and 13 vehicles have been seized within two days during surprise raids by the department conducted at various locations of the district.
