PTU organizes workshop on communication, soft skills

Jammu, Jan 19- Punjab Technical University (PTU) authorized learning centers (Softlab Computer Institute & Satyam Institute of Hotel Management), organized a Workshop on “Communication & Soft Skills” for the students of DHMCTT, BSC-HMCTT, MSC-HMCTT, BBA, PGDBM & MBA and IT students at Satyam Resorts here today in which more than 500 students participated.
The main motive of the Workshop was to serve as a bridge between formal education and the industry and greatly enhance the future employment prospectus of the students.
In a recent survey of recruiters from companies with more than 50,000 employees, communication skills were cited as the single most important decisive factor in choosing managers. The survey, conducted by the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Business School, points out that communication skills, including written and oral presentations, as well as an ability to work with others, are the main factor contributing to job success.
PTU has recently collaborated with Foreign Universities for equivalent of their Degree and Diploma Program and any PTU student can go to foreign universities for further studies or for any master’s course if he/she has done Bachelors course from PTU in India. PTU has also got very good placements records in different MNC’s like PEPSI, COKE and in lot of banks like ICICI, HDFC, PNB and so on. More than 200 students of PTU have been appointed as Govt. Teachers in different colleges of India.
Vishal Gupta, Regional Manager Vidya Infosys informed that the regional centre has arranged similar workshop for more than 3,000 students across ten states i.e. J&K, Himachal Pardesh, Orissa, Andhra Pardesh, Karnataka and Kerala. University has incorporated the subject of communication and soft skill in each semester as PTU is focusing on continuous focusing of the students to make them employable.
M Dewan, CEO Vidya Infosys encouraged the initiative and arranged to make such workshops a regular activity for all students. He also stressed that communication in English in today’s time is necessary as it is the only language which is globally recognized.
The vote of thanks was presented by Harbans Singh, Director Administration. He highlighted the performance of PTU and told the students that PTU is always taking keen interest to conduct such kind of workshops. He also conveyed this message that Softlab (PTU) will be conducting such kinds of Seminar’s and Workshop in future also.
Among those present on the occasion were Gaurav Gupta, Centre Director, Rajesh Badyal, Course Coordinator, Amit Bali, Marketing Manager, Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Manager Marketing, Ashutosh Jayee (HOD Satyam Institute of Hotel Management) and Sonam Langer ,Senior Coordinator.
