| Students need not to limit their education to text books: Bakaya | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 19- Former Chief Secretary, Vijay Bakaya, on Monday called upon the teaching community to encourage students in creative writing while inaugurating a science laboratory, equipped with latest gadgets and apparatus, in the Conventry Scholars School at Chinnor,Roop Nagar, Jammu. Bakaya suggested to teachers to help students to have a fair knowledge about the happenings in the world so that they were fully prepared to answer questions. He said that the concept of education has witnessed rapid developments and teachers need to keep these developments and new techniques in view while guiding the students. He said the era of book worm like attitude was over and students no longer could afford to bank on lesson rote system. He said students need not limit their education to the text books. Teachers should help them to go beyond the pages of the text books. Bakaya and Joseph K Dhar, a renowned educationist and former principal, lauded the school authorities for making available suitable facilities for the students. Dr Asha Dhar, Anjli Koul, Principal, Vice Principal, Rajesh Dhar, Sanjay Ticku, Manmohan Bhat, Shishu Bushan the directors of Coventry School were also present on this occasion. While talking to reporters Rahesh Dhar, Director, Child Development and Academics, ‘said that our school is single mindedly focusing on the betterment of its student’ adding that “Coventry had grown from ten students to over six hundred at present’. |
