DDC chairman hands over tricycles to specially-abled persons

REASI, June 8: Department of Social Welfare, district Reasi on Thursday organised a mega Camp in co-ordination with Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) of India here in Sports Stadium to provide different aids to the specially-abled persons.
The event was oriented to distribute necessary aids and appliances to specially abled people of the district including Tricycles, Wheel chairs, crutches, Rollators, Smart Phones, Smart Canes, Cerebral Palsy Chairs and Hearing aids.
The distribution camp was inaugurated by Chairman, District Development Council Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag and Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Jyoti Rani Salathia; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Abdul Star; District Social Welfare Officer, Pallvi Sharma and Sandeep Mehra, chairman MUSKAAN Charitable Trust also joined the event.
On the occasion, the DDC chairman stressed on provide better facilities to the children with special needs so that they can get a better education. He said providing better education and healthcare facilities to such individuals should be the priority for all. He assured that all required measures shall be taken to ensure a better education for these individuals.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated ALIMCO and the Social Welfare Department for facilitating the specially-abled persons under different schemes. The DC also urged the people to come forward and take benefit of the social welfare and other schemes launched by the UT and Central Government for their upliftment.
The aids were provided to the beneficiaries after proper assessment conducted at a camp organised by the SW department and ALIMCO in 2021. As many as 321 specially abled people from all blocks of the district have been provided aids and appliances worth Rs 23 Lkah approximately.
During the event, the dignitaries interacted with the Specially abled people and inquired about the challenges they face in routine life. They were briefed about the process for specially abled to avail skill training being offered by Department of Skill Development to enable them to ear a dignified livelihood.
