DC reviews progress of Power sector projects; electricity supply scenario

RAJOURI, June 8: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, Rajouri on Thursday chaired a meeting with key officials to review the power supply scenario in the district. The meeting aimed to expedite the execution of ongoing projects, ensure efficient power supply, and address any challenges hindering progress.
Highlighting the details presented during the meeting, the Executive Engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD) Rajouri revealed that a total of 119 projects are currently underway. Among them, 105 projects fall under PRI grants, while 03 projects are under BDC grants and 11 projects under DDC grants for FY 2023-24. To ensure timely completion, the DC directed concerned officers to promptly initiate the tendering process, with a target to complete it by June 15th.
The Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of expediting the progress of various power-related works, including those carried out by JPDCL, SSY, and BADP. Stressing the significance of these projects in benefitting the local population, he urged officials to accelerate their efforts and ensure the prompt delivery of necessary services upon completion.
To overcome challenges that may impede the execution of works, the DC emphasized the need for seamless interdepartmental coordination. He called upon all concerned stakeholders to proactively collaborate and promptly address any issues that arise, emphasizing that timely resolution is crucial to avoid unnecessary delays and to prioritize the larger public interest.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the power supply situation in the district, urging officials to strictly adhere to curtailment schedules while ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the residents. With a firm commitment to providing efficient, reliable, and sustainable power supply to the people of Rajouri, such proactive reviews and directives from the DC signify a positive step forward.
