Inspects drug de-addiction centre, mega projects

KULGAM, June 10: Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, Dr. Raghav Langer, today visited Kulgam and took stock of development scenario of the district.
During his visit, Secretary inspected various development projects which are under execution by various departments.
Secretary also inspected Drug De-Addiction centre at Kulgam and assessed overall functioning of the centre. He interacted with the patients and staff and took stock of availability of facilities at the centre.
At ITI College Kulgam, Secretary interacted with the students and distributed course Completion Certificates among 180 students.
Secretary was apprised that these 180 youth from backward areas of Aspirational Blocks were provided skill development training in different trades under ABDP in order to help them become self-reliant and self employed.
Complimenting the district administration for organising the skill development courses under ABDP, Secretary said demand of time is for skilled human resource so focus should be on self employment and start ups.
He added that 82000 self employment units have come up across the UT. He urged upon the youth to take benefit from various schemes of government adding that information and assistance about these schemes is available at a single click without visiting the offices.
Secretary, later, chaired a meeting of officers at Chawalgam to review progress made under various schemes and programmes of the government.
Secretary stressed upon the officers to give their best and ensure proper implementation of government programmes tailored for welfare of people of the district.
Through a powerpoint presentation, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, presented the district profile and detailed about physical and financial achievements under NABARD, District Capex and other components.
During the meeting, functioning of Health, Education, PDD, Jal Shakti and other departments was also reviewed.
Earlier, Secretary visited flood protection bund at Aadigatnoo where he was informed that the bund with a running length of 1990 feet has been constructed under convergence mode with a cost of 3 crore. Secretary also visited civil services Library at Kulgam and interacted with the aspirants there. He also took stock of completion status of Finance complex, Indoor stadium and conference hall at Kulgam. The day long tour culminated with the visit to Chansar, Liroo and other villages to inspect development works including Amrit Sarovars. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Viqar Ahmed Giri, Chief Planning Officer, Zahid Sajjad, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mohammad Imran and other district officers were present on the occasion.
