| DyCM takes of stock of situation, facilities in city | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 19: Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand Monday said that the beautification of cities and towns of the state would be thrust area in the policy planning of the Government. “Hard efforts are required to upgrade the basic amenities in the cities and towns and make these palatable” Mr. Tara Chand added. The Deputy Chief Minister today went around Jammu city areas and took stock of development works under execution. He visited Dogra Shourya Samarak, Amphalla and directed the concerned department to cover the nallah flowing through the area by a concrete slab, to make the city entry point beautiful. “A park could also be carved out here to provide lung place and recreation for the public”, he told the officers of housing & Urban Development. Mr. Tara Chand visited the office of Jammu Municipal Corporation at Gumat and asked the corporation to take immediate steps to remove the ugly spots from the city areas. He reminded them of the maxim “Charity begins at home” and asked them to keep the complex and surroundings clean, green and eye-catching. The Deputy Chief Minister said “Municipal Corporations have a stupendous role to play in ensuring planned and integrated development of the cities. We are receiving lakhs of tourists and pilgrims yearly in the two cities. These should be symbols of cleanliness and beautification”. Mr. Tara Chand while interacting with people at Kabir colony, stressed on early completion of Dr. B. R. Ambadkar “Sanan Ghar”. He directed for construction of road from Kabir Colony along the nallah. He visited Shakti Nagar and adjoining areas, inspected works and ascertained the difficulties of people. He assured the people that government was aware of their problems and steps would be taken to mitigate their difficulties. The Deputy Chief Minister instructed the officers who accompanied him during the tour, to strive for carving out multi level parking lots wherever land was available in the city to remove the difficulty of traffic jams, blockades and congestion. Mr.Tara Chand also visited the Ranbir Government Printing Press and inspected its various units. He underlined the importance of proper documentation of records and asked the officers to come up with a proposal of making the government printing press modern, more viable and upto the mark. He stressed on upgrading the functioning and outlook of the press. Mr. Tara Chand called for special campaign for cleanliness in the press premises. The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Mayor Jammu, Mr. Kavinder Gupta, Commissioner/Secretary ARI Trainings, Mr. Pritpal Singh Betab, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, SSP Jammu Mr. Manohar Singh and a team of officers from Municipality, JDA, Housing and Urban Development departments. |
