Police foils bovine smuggling attempts, arrests smugglers

REASI, June 12: In a continued effort to combat bovine smuggling in district Reasi, the teams of district Police Reasi have successfully thwarted five smuggling attempts. During these operations, a total of seven bovine smugglers were arrested, and 59 bovines were rescued from their possession.
Police Station Mahore's team conducted a surprise check at Khatazi in the Mahore area, where they intercepted a person identified as Shamas din, son of Ghulam Din, residing in Lar Mahore tehsil of district Reasi. They rescued 30 bovines that were being carried illegally by him. A case FIR No. 60/2023 under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Police Station Mahore, and an investigation is underway.
In another incident, the team from PP Thanole rescued 12 bovines at Jij Top from a bovine smuggler named Mohd. Latif, son of Suba, hailing from Chakalsalta Tehsil Thakrakote, district Reasi. The smuggler was attempting to transport the bovines on foot towards Srinagar without the required permission from the District Magistrate (DM). An arrest has been made, and a case FIR No. 60/2023 under Section 188 IPC has been registered at P/S Arnas.
Additionally, the team from SPP Chillad foiled another bovine smuggling incident and rescued nine bovines at Lapri Top. They apprehended Gulzar Ahmed, son of Abdul Aziz, from Hunder tehsil Arnas, who was also transporting bovines on foot towards Srinagar without DM’s permission. The accused has been arrested, and a case FIR No. 59/2023 under Section 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Arnas.
Furthermore, the team from PP Dera Baba rescued four bovines at Chappanoo from the clutches of smugglers, Alaf Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, and co-driver Hem Raj, son of Bhagat Ram, both hailing from Chub tehsil and district Ramban. The accused have been arrested, and a case FIR No. 127/2023 under Section 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
In another incident, the team from PP Dera Baba rescued four bovines at a naka in Chappanoo. They apprehended bovine smuggler Abdul Majid, son of Ahmed Khan, and his co-driver Jeevan Singh, son of Kunj Lal, both belonging to Ganote Tehsil and District Ramban. They were transporting the bovines in a vehicle with registration number JKO2CG-9989 without DM permission. The accused have been arrested, and a case FIR No. 128/2023 under Section 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta - JKPS, emphasized that the Reasi Police is dedicated to eliminating the menace of bovine smuggling, which is crucial for establishing peace and tranquility in the region.
