Agriculture officials visit border areas to support farmers

Kathua, June 13: Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua along with Ashwani Sharma Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Hiranagar performed extensive tour of Zero Line Villages Karol Krishna, Karol Maitrain, Chak Changa along International Indo Pak Border. During the whirlwind tour, Team comprising Ashwani Sharma SDAO Hiranagar, Narayan Singh, JAEO and Sanjay Kumar, Agriculture Extension Assistant met with the farmers of the Border areas as Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Kathua welfare is ready to help the farmers in cultivating their land along Indo Pak International Border during Seasonal Sowing of Mash and Wheat during Kharif 2023 and Rabi 2023-24 as a frontline organization.
During his visit, Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua discussed the needs and requirements of the farmers, so that, a strategy for sowing Mash crop along Indo Pak International border shall be adopted in coordination with Border Security Force and District Administration for successful sowing of Mash Crop during Kharif 2023. Sehdev Singh and Pritam Singh farmers of the area, apprised Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua about the nitty-gritties and problems faced by farming community while utilizing their land across the fence.
They presented dire need of mechanized farming such as use to tractors, combine harvester, Rotavator, Super-seeders along Border areas to accomplish cultural practices at faster pace. Nanak Chand, a prominent citizen and President Border Union Kathua also raised issue regarding entry-exit timings to the fields at security gates of fence along International Indo-Pak Border. He said , entry exit timings fixed by Border Security Force are sometime troublesome and shall be fixed in coordination with farming community thus concordant with the timings of cultural practices, especially during Sowing and Harvesting time of crops.
He also praised Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta for his consistence support, motivation and relentless efforts. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Hiranagar during his address , also assured full cooperation and support to the farming community.
