Strengthening security
6/14/2023 11:02:22 PM

In a significant step towards enhancing security measures, sixteen railway stations in Jammu region are all set to get Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance systems. This proactive move aims to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers, deter criminal activities, and provide authorities with a valuable tool for investigation and crime prevention.
The installation of CCTVs is being done under the Railway Department under Nirbhaya Fund that is being utilized towards enhancing safety and security on trains with a special focus on female travellers.
The installation of CCTVs at Jammu Railway Stations is a good step that would prioritize passenger safety. These high-tech cameras offer constant surveillance, covering key areas such as ticket counters, platforms, waiting areas, and entrances. By monitoring these spaces in real-time, railway officials can promptly identify any suspicious activities, unauthorized entries, or potential threats to passenger security.
The presence of CCTVs acts as a strong deterrent, discouraging anti-social elements and reducing the likelihood of incidents such as theft, vandalism, or harassment.
Passengers can now experience a heightened sense of security, instilling confidence in the railway infrastructure.
The CCTV systems provide an indispensable tool for crime prevention and investigation. In the unfortunate event of an incident, the footage captured by these cameras can serve as vital evidence in identifying culprits, reconstructing events, and bringing perpetrators to justice. The availability of high-quality video recordings allows law enforcement agencies to analyze the footage and gather crucial information that can aid their investigations.
Moreover, the presence of CCTVs acts as a strong deterrent against criminal activities, as potential wrongdoers are aware that their actions are being monitored, thereby reducing the likelihood of crimes taking place within the railway premises.
The CCTVs have proven to be effective tools in a fight against terrorism and have helped in thwarting many incidents that could have led to loss of human lives.
Installation of CCTVs at 16 railway stations in Jammu is a step towards a right direction and would further enhance the security of these vital places which remain crowded 24x7.
