CBI begins attaching properties of Navy Chief's kin

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 19: In a dramatic turn of events, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday pressed itself into action, taking higher-ups in the Indian Navy by surprise. The CBI began attaching properties and bank account of Ravi Shankaran, a relative of the Navy Chief, Arun Prakash.
Ravi Shankaran is an acused in the Naval War Room leak case. According to offical sources, his properties in various parts of the country are being attached after he failed to appear before the probe agency for several months. The CBI procured an attachment warrant on Monday evening from the designated court after Shankaran continously evaded appearing before it, these sources said.
Details of a top-secret naval project were recently leaked, investigations vy the CBI into the Navy War Room leak case have revealed. The project, titled the Network Centric Operation (NCO), is characterised by information-sharing across multiple levels of command and control made posible by networking tghe entire force down to the indivdual level of the naval hierarchy.
The CBI in its explosive revelation stated: "With this compromised information, an enemy country/terrorists can know exactly as to what the future naval network-centric operations are for the next 20 years..."The CBI has estimated that the information leaked could be worth billions of dollars in a commercial transaction. And the CBI is said to have pointed out that the information will immensely benefit big multi-national companies engaged in defence supplies as it wil give them a clear insight into the requirements of the Navy.
The CBI sleuths have moved in on Shanks Oceanography office in Goa, which is alleged to be Ravi Shankaran's office, frozen his bank account in Mumbai and seized his Mercedes car in Pune. The CBI had advised Shankaran, believed to be in London, to appear before the agency after raids were conducted at the properties owned by him in May this year.
A proclamation notice was also issued in newspapers published in Britain, where he is alleged to be hiding. However, his continous evasive tactics were informed to the designated court on September 10, after which the court issued the warrant.
