Cluster University of Jammu organizes three-day Yoga camp

JAMMU, June 20: The School of Social Sciences at Cluster University of Jammu organized a Three-Day Yoga Camp from 19th to 21st June 2023, in celebration of International Yoga Day. The camp was held under the patronage of Dr. Vishal Sharma, the Dean of the School of Social Sciences. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony, where Dr. Neetu Kumari, the Convenor of the event, welcomed the participants. Ashwani Kumar Gupta served as the yoga trainer for the camp, showcasing various yoga asanas and sharing their benefits.
The students greatly appreciated the three-day camp, considering it an enriching and enlightening experience. They expressed their gratitude to the School of Social Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu, for organizing such a practical event. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Vishal Sharma emphasized the learning opportunity the yoga camp provided to the students. He highlighted the practical knowledge of yoga that could be implemented in their daily lives, leading to physical, mental, and virtual development. Additionally, the students also took part in a yoga quiz and a yoga pledge organized by NSS (National Service Scheme), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Dr. Roshi Charak, the Co-convenor of the camp, concluded the session with a vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude to the resource person for training the participants and expressed hope for the organization of more such events in the future. Students from the departments of History and Commerce actively participated in the camp. Riya Sharma (6th semester, B.Com Hon's) and Shriya Sethi (6th semester, M.A Integrated History: Cultural Heritage) shared the history and significance of yoga in life. Among those present during the camp were Dr. Pooja, the Coordinator of Commerce, as well as faculty members from the School of Social Sciences including Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Nitin Chandel, Dr. Waseem Rashid, Dr. Arvind Jamwal, Dr. Vishal Baloria, Riya Gupta, Anushka Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and the non-teaching staff of the School of Social Sciences.
